Rebooting Your Healthy Habits

Now what? I’m finally exercising and eating healthy and something comes along and derails me. As a lifetime exerciser, I’ve come to realize that my startup routine, or reboot, is as important as my regime. What I mean is that I’ll often be doing well, eating well, exercising and feeling good and then my routine gets interrupted. Sometimes it’s positive things like a vacation or the holidays, and sometimes it’s dealing with a matter that takes an inordinate amount of time and energy.

Regardless, I’ve learned that having a startup routine ready to go helps a ton. If it’s been a short time off, maybe a week is enough to reboot. If it’s longer, it might take three or four weeks to get back up to speed. The important thing is that instead of feeling frustrated or defeated, I just count rebooting as a normal part of staying healthy.

So when you inevitably hit an obstacle in your New Year’s resolution, don’t give up, reboot!
